In his book Decolonizing Palestine, Somdeep Sen builds on the case of Hamas in the Gaza Strip to reject the notion that liberation from colonialization exists as a singular moment in history when the colonizer is ousted by the colonized. Instead, he considers the struggle for liberation to be a complex psychological and empirical mix of the colonial and the postcolonial that begins long before the flight of the colonizer and continues long after the official end of colonial rule. Sen thus inducts Hamas and the condition in Gaza into the pantheon of liberation movements spanning across the world as he propose a global conception of the trajectory of liberation struggles.
